A beautifully well-rounded top quality Frascati with tastes of spring flowers, citrus fruits and apples that is beautifully balanced by a fresh, minerally finish with a distinctive note of almonds. The blend is 60% Malvasia, 30% Trebbiano and 10% Greco: Half of the Malvasia is the rare Puntinata variety.

37 Picpoul de Pinet, Domaine Sainte-Anne 2008                                      £3.90  £5.60  £7.30  £21.00 Coteaux de Languedoc, France

A bright and fresh fuller bodied dry wine with citrusy fruit - this is an interesting alternative to the fashionable Pinot Grigio. From humble beginnings in the sleepy village of Pinet the Picpoul grape variety is gaining in following.

38 Soave Classico 2007 Bolla, Italy                                                            £3.80  £5.40  £7.00  £20.00

A delightful Soave with a dry flavour with soft acidity and a rounded almondy finish. The traditional Garganega grape is blended with the rare, but highly-prized, Trebbiano di Soave which improves both the fruit and aroma of the finished blend.

39 Organic Pinot Grigio delle Venezie 2007 Vinuva, Italy 2007          £3.60   £5.10  £6.70  £19.00       Our ‘house’ dry white - this is a light delicate apple flavoured version of the world’s most popular ‘very dry’ grape – Pinot Grigio – with the bonus of being organic.

40 Vendange Pinot Grigio 2008 California, USA                                        £3.40 £4.90  £6.30   £18.00       Not yet truly renowned for its Pinot Grigio, California is subject to wine prejudice as much as anywhere. In blind tastings this wine does well though; crisp, light, dry and fruity.

44 Whirlpool Reach Sauvignon Blanc Tamar River 2008 Tasmania, Oz      £5.30£7.60  £10.00£29.00

We love this Tasmanian Sauvignon Blanc – herbaceous and grassy aromas precede a tropical fruit flavour of guava, pink grapefruit and green fig – well worth comparing with the excellent New Zealand styles!

45 Villa Maria Private Bin Gewürztraminer 2008 East Coast, New Zealand £4.90£7.10  £9.30£27.00

Normally associated with the Alsace, the Gewürztraminer grape contributes to a rich wine full of exotic fruit flavours from the Hawke’s Bay and Gisbourne areas of North Island. Great with oily fish and cured salmon.

46Etchart Privado Torrontés 2009 Salta, Argentina                              £3.60  £5.10  £6.70  £19.00

Our ‘house’ herbaceous white - the generally unknown Torrontes grape variety is the most distinctive of all Argentine wines, because Argentina is the only country to produce it. It has enticing aromas that are strikingly similar to Viognier, with hints of peach, flowers, and orange citrus fruit.

47Casa La Joya Estate Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, 2008                             £3.40  £4.90 £6.30  £18.00 Colchagua Valley, Chile

A powerful style of Sauvignon Blanc, full of ripe tropical and citrus fruit flavours which offers great value. Greater complexity is given by the blending in of 10% French barrel-fermented wine. Compare it blind in a Sauvignon Blanc ‘wine-flight’ if you dare!

This stylish Riesling has floral notes, mandarin orange and pink grapefruit flavours plus a mineral complexity that makes it a worthy descendant of its German ancestors.

51 Orvieto Classico Bigi Amabile 2008 Bigi, Italy                                        £3.40   £4.90  £6.30  £18.00

Our ‘house’ medium white, this is a gentle and soft-on-the palate wine with subtle peach and fruit flavours and enough freshness to carry the enticing sweet edge.

52 Kleine Zalze Bush Vines Chenin Blanc 2008 Stellenbosch, South Africa £3.10  £4.40  £5.70  £16.00

Fresh flowery bouquet with hints of honey and sun dried pears and apricots so typical of late harvested Chenin. Ripe and mouth filling on the palate with a fresh acidity that lingers refreshingly. Frankly lovely!

Full flavoured nutty oaked whites

BIN                                                                                                                     GLASS          CARAFE       BOTTLE                                                                                                                        125ml    175ml    250ml        750ml

B2 Cloudy Bay Te Koko Sauvignon Blanc 2008 Marlborough, New Zealand            -        -      -      £50

Te Koko is a relatively new addition to the Cloudy Bay range, a straight Sauvignon Blanc from the famed Marlborough region that has been treated quite differently to their more commonly encountered Sauvignon Blanc. For a start the wine undergoes a very slow fermented in French oak barrels and following the ‘malolactic’, it is aged for a further ten months on its ‘lees’, again in oak. As such it is much richer, almost creamy with plenty of weight on the palate, yet it still retains the freshness and pungency of cut grass, asparagus, greengage and guava, alongside hints of caramel and vanilla.

53Château du Seuil, Graves 2004 Bordeaux France                                    £5.90 £8.60  £11.30 £33.00

From Bordeaux, white Grave is a blend of Semillon (part fermented in French oak) and Sauvignon Blanc grapes to produce a great strong bodied wine with a bouquet of honey, citrus fruits and floral aromas with a strong minerality from the river bed sand, clay and gravels. Top dollar wine.

B3 Bonterra Organic Viognier, North Coast 2007California USA             £6.40 £9.40  £12.30£36.00

Our favourite Viognier and a wine we haven’t been able to justify selling commercially but store for our (well mainly Lynne’s) personal consumption! If you enjoy quality we’re in the mood we may share a bottle with you – but otherwise it’s only by the bottle! Barrel fermented in 100% French oak, very creamy texture and with an unmistakable and haunting aroma of dried apricots which is the hallmark of a classic Viognier, carefully grown grapes using organic viniculture.

54 Penfolds Koonunga Hill Chardonnay 2006 South-Eastern Australia   £3.90 £5.60 £7.30 £21.00

A tropical fruits style Chardonnay which is balanced by the well integrated oak and vanilla undertones. Our ‘House’ nutty oaked white!

55 Casa La Joya Estate Reserve Viognier 2006 Colchagua Valley, Chile   £3.60 £5.10  £6.70 £19.00

Brought in as the value alternative to our favourite Viognier (Bin B3 above), hand-harvested Viognier grapes are gently pressed prior to a cool fermentation, 7% in French oak barrels. Creamy notes with fresh apricot and cherimoya (custard apple) on the nose. Well-rounded and balanced palate with delicious, ripe, aromatic fruit.
