Local Wines top Wine Tasting!

At our St George's Wine Tasting 5 course Banquet held on Saturday 26 April  2008  local wines from both Coddington and Tiltridge Vineyards scored equally in the number one position ahead of high quality Chilean wine in a carefully staged 'blind' tasting.

45% of the 30 tasters preferred Coddington's 'Old Farm' Bacchus 2006, 45% preferred Tiltridge's 'Dorabella' Huxelrebe 2005 Wine and only 10% preferred the excellent Chilean Conchay Toro Sauvignon Blanc 2007.

As a result we are now stocking a wine from each vineyard and they become popular we will include more in our next wine list.

Local Worcestershire & Herefordshire Wines

52 Coddington Vineyard Pinot Gris 2006                    £2.30     £6.30     £8.90     £24.00

This dry wine is great for drinking alone in the early evening sun due to its low alcohol content (11% ABV) or with food. It has a spicy bouquet with a taste of cinnamon and ginger - a very easy and approachable style – we recommend it!

53 Tiltridge Vineyard , 'Variations' Seyval Blanc
/ Worcestershire 2005                                                  £2.50    £7.00    £10.00    £27.00

Another great drinking wine with 11% ABV this French grape variety prospers in the Upton vale and has been matured for some weeks in oak barrels; resulting in a dry wine with plenty of body and a hint of butteriness, without dominating the flavour.
